24 Hours in Paris

Paris is a very large city and no tourist on earth can see all of its attractions in just one day. However, if you have just a day in Paris, you can still get the most of the City of Lights if you plan right. You can have great fun designing plans based on themes such as food, shopping, art, romance, or family.

A romantic day in Paris, for example, might include a guided tour of all the major attractions of the city, delicious lunch at a traditional French restaurant, shopping for flowers, champagne, or chocolate and a romantic night cruise on the River Seine. If you are a gourmet, you could just go on a wine and food tasting tour. Since the City of Lights offers everything under the sun, there is no dearth of exciting ways to spend a day in Paris. I spent my day in Paris by spending a few early morning minutes in contemplation, just soaking the sights and smells of the great city and feeling its pulse, after which I went out and got myself a Carte Mobilis, which is an unlimited one-day pass, for £6.

A breakfast of croissants and hot chocolate followed by a visit to the Musee Picasso, which has on display more than 3000 works of art by Rouseeau, Degas, Cezanne, de Chirico, Matisse and other masters was the next item on my itinerary. I then took a trip around the region visiting popular Parisian landmarks and even managed to stop by a student territory near the Palais de Justice and Boulevard St. Michael to watch one of the regular demonstrations there.

I then visited Le Comptoir du Relais for a mouth-watering traditional French lunch of foie gras, roast pork and truffles – which I now believe is a must-do activity. A day in Paris must also include a visit to the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame de Paris, Place Dauphine, Pont Neuf and Musee du Moyen Age culminating in a romantic night boat ride.
